Mobile Imaging to Reduce Backlogs

Problem
The hospital, which was initially repurposed as part of the UK’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, has since been transformed into a centre for elective and diagnostic care. This includes a new unit (the Buttercup Unit) which focuses on reducing waiting lists for cardiology, respiratory, andgastroenterology services. This required the provision of a range of diagnostic services, including MRI and CT scans. The centre needed to get up to speed quickly to respond to a growing (postpandemic) waiting list for diagnostic services.
Solution
We enabled the hospital to move rapidly in creating its elective recovery centre through the provision of relocatable MRI and CT scanning units.
Results
According to Chris Tidman, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at the Royal Devon, the Buttercup unit is ‘a truly world classfacility, offering speedy and high-quality care to the people of Devon.’
